His home was always open to family, friends and neighbors. Doug was born in Memphis, Tennessee and grew up in Diamondhead , Mississippi.  He graduated cum laude from the University of Texas in 1987 and received his law degree with highest honors from The Florida State University College of Law in 1990. He was on the Law Review and won the Gorman Matthews Book Award for Torts, the Book Award for Employment Discrimination and the Book Award for Professional Responsibility.

Doug was a partner in the Fowler White Boggs Banker law firm from 1990-2008 and was a founding partner in the Banker Lopez Gassler law firm from 2008 to present. He was selected as one of The Best Lawyers in America 2012-2014, 2016-2018.
